One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish

I try to do one craft a week with Hannah. I found out today was Dr. Suess day (I knew it was coming but forgot when it actually was). I was going to paint her hands and make thing 1 and thing 2, but I didn't have any blue paint, so I traced her hands and did one fish two fish. I still need to take a white crayon and make some bubbles, but otherwise it is done.

Easter Craft

Last week I made time to sit down with Jenna and do a craft with her. She LOVES crafts, and things get so crazy around here with me running around, but I made sure I stopped and worked with her. We took a baby food jar and painted the lid white and then added eyes and ears. We also took white pom poms and glued them on for the tail and legs. I was going to take construction paper and make whiskers but Jenna told me to use pipe cleaners. I thought since it was her project it would work, and it did. The only thing not shown is we added a small pink nose out with a pom pom, and I had to get that at school. We filled the jar with jelly beans and gave them out as a treat.

Turkey Craft

I am sure this will be the first craft of many, but at least we are done with pumpkin crafts. Jenna and I made this today. The bottom and side is made of cardboard, so it is really supposed to be a napkin holder. At least it kept her busy and she was happy.

I had the day off Tuesday....a much needed day. Thankfully, it was a day that we had 3 year olds, so the break was doubly nice. Jack also took the day off because he needed some time and he could also spend the day with me. So Jack and I and Jenna dropped the boys off and went to Cary to shop. We went to Home Depot, Target, Toys R Us and the mall. We got most of the boy's Christmas shopping done, which is a relief! I still have a couple of small things to get them, but just to have a big jump on things helps. We also got to have a nice lunch together at Remington Grill. It was a nice day, and I enjoyed the day off and time with Jack and Jenna!

Spider Craft

Another easy one. I painted Jenna's hands black and put her prints on the paper (except I forgot and did one thumb, so my spider is a little "sick" looking). Then she put wiggle eyes and we have a spider. It kept her happy and it was quick for me.

The boys had a half day today, so I guess we will just "hang" out for the afternoon. Right now they are watching Star Wars, so I guess they are happy campers!! Have a great weekend!

Candy Corn Craft

Jenna made this candy corn craft. Very cute and easy.....just paint your hand three different colors and poof....you have a candy corn!!

Pumpkin Craft

Jenna did another craft yesterday. We took a lunch bag, stuffed it with newspaper, painted it orange and then she tied a green pipe cleaner to it. Pretty simple, but it makes her happy to do a craft!

More Crafts

Jenna and I made these spiders yesterday (thanks to Jen for the ideas). I put one on our front door and the other on the kitchen table. I hope since we did two yesterday she won't come home and say "mommy, can we do a craft?"!!! I also thought I would post the pictures of her and Skye dressed alike on Sunday!

Sunday Afternoon Crafts

I had a craft to do with Jenna and Joshua and Jacob decided to join in. They really enjoyed this one. I painted the palm of their hands orange and then when it dried, they made pumpkins. I took their feet and painted them white and made those into ghosts. I then cut them out and made a "wreath". I got this idea from Jen's website. She always gives great craft ideas and she helped me out with Joshua's project. (http://jennwa.blogspot.com/)

Craft with the Kids

I found this craft on the Crafty Crow (thanks Sara for the website). I needed a salad spinner, so I found one at Walmart for $2.97. I cut a piece of cardstock the size of the inside spinner. The kids had fun splotting paint in and spinning it and then seeing what their creations looked like. I really like that every one's was unique. I even did some. We put them outside to dry because they were VERY wet. Next, we took paper towel holders and painted them and let them dry. I used all washable paint so that I could do this again. I hung Joshua's up like this. I really need some string to make this work better. All I had were pipe cleaners. I'll get some string so that I can finish Jacob and Jenna's. It was fun to do this with them, and I am so glad I FINALLY found a craft on my level!!

Valentine Mouse and Stuff

Jenna made this mouse at preschool. I am thinking to myself....how easy and cute is that! Even I could do this (even though my heart wouldn't look as nice). I love Valentine's Day as there are so many crafts you can do!

I found out last night when Jack was going to San Fran. He leaves the last Tuesday in February and doesn't get home until Saturday morning, March 1st. That isn't bad, but I am a little sad because it means that I can go to the women's conference this year. I had so much fun last year. It was a great time of refreshing for me. I was looking forward to the little "lift" this year. It always does a mom good to get away from everyone for a night. They were even staying ocean side this time. It makes me feel a little left out and isolated, but I guess that is my pity party kicking in. I know this is more important, and we probably could use the $50 that was going toward it! Hey, my "night out" was last night getting groceries at Walmart!! (now I am having a big pity party!). At least it's almost Friday!!!

Sweet Tortilla Snowflakes

Ok, you know me...I want to do crafts but am not crafty. The kids helped me cut these out and it's been awhile since I've cut snowflakes. I also don't have a good pair of kitchen scissors. Anyway, I made these snowflakes. Nothing will go to waste. With my cut outs, I will use cinnamon and sugar and bake them, which is one of my kids favorite treats.

flour tortillas
1 teaspoon vegetable oil
1 cup chocolate chips
1/2 cup confectioners sugar

fold each tortilla into quarters then snip out shapes to make snowflakes. place snowflakes on a lightly greased baking sheet, bake 5-7 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove from over and dot each one evenly with chocolate chips, return to oven briefly to melt the chips. once the chips melt, transfer to a cooling rack and use a butter knife to spread the chips. place in fridge for 5-10 minutes to harden the chocolate, then put c. sugar in a sieve and shake an even layer across them. serve on a dark plate.
