Kids exchange treasure....Jenna just saw this in the catalog two days prior.....$40 we got it for $10

Shaq shoes $1

My kids now love going to thrift stores. Sometimes we go to Fuquay to get groceries, go to Krispy Kreme and thrift shop. This week we had plenty of opportunity. Wed we did just this and went to Fuquay. I got Jenna a shirt and me a pair of shorts. Thursday was the kids exchange. Josh needed an extra pair of shoes for the Wilds and I didn't want to pay more than $5 for ANOTHER pair of shoes.....he found some Air Jordans and they were $5. We bought Jake a pair of shoes, and Jenna some stuff. She wanted a changing table for her bitty baby and saw one in the catalog for $40....we got it for $10. Friday I went out with Veronica and we went to several thrift stores. I found a Bonnie Jean purple dress for Jenna. My big treasure was finding this comforter/bedroom set. Last November, I found this comforter set at Penney's that I wanted for Jenna. It was called "Little Miss Matched". Comforter alone was $85. I've been checking on ebay a lot trying to find one with no luck.....(still runs about $65 on ebay). Well, at the last thrift store we found the same comforter but it was a different brand. I got two pair of sheets sets, the comforter (reversible....thus little miss matched) and curtains for less than $14!! Yeah!! Saturday I woke up to go to a community sale at my friend's neighborhood. First house.....prices were a little high, however I found a pair of Shaq shoes (another thing Josh wanted) almost brand new. Since he was so high, I figured it would be at least $5. He said "make me an offer" so I said how about $1....HE TOOK IT!! Needless to say I gave him the money and ran before he could change his mind! The shoes are about a size big for him, but he is very happy.

These are my free items for the week: one candy bar, two bags of candy corn, toothpaste, and a sobe water. The great thing is that I didn't pay anything for them!! I'm actually getting another toothpaste today since it's free, but I wanted to go ahead and get the post listed.

God's Provisions

I changed my title from "money saving Monday" to this for the week. (plus I had to throw Jack off because he said "guess it's time for Money saving monday" God has richly blessed this family. First of all I have my regular free things for the week thanks to CVS and Walgreens.....furniture polish, Windex, ibuprofen, and chap stick, all for free. Next was something that happened a couple of weeks. After 15+ years my microwave fried. I certainly didn't want the added expense of buying a new one. My brother sweetly let us borrow his until we get a new one (we know what will be on my Christmas list). Next, our gas grill died. (our weed eater and push mower have also died) I realize this is not a necessity, but we do use it a lot. I was thinking about trying to find Jack one for his b-day, and he found one at a yard sale that had only been used once or twice. He was able to snag that up for $50. Finally we wanted to see Toy Story, but I am not paying $40+ for a movie. My mom asked us yesterday if we would like to go, and she is paying, so off we go today for a 4th of July event.

I can see God taking care of us and providing our needs, but I still find myself very scared about the future. It's not easy for me to "tighten up" and I find our family starting to do that. I can cut corners and I can snag bargains, but why do I find myself even worrying about what will happen to us in a few months? I still feel like I treat this like a death sentence and I hate acting like this or even wondering what will happen.

Money Saving Madness

I love saving my family money, especially now!! Let me tell you about a few of my deals. A couple of weeks ago I needed one of those captain chairs for football and soccer. Mine died after about 4 years. CVS gave me a $15 dollar coupon for filling out a survey so I got the chair for FREE!!! whoohoo!!

Moving on this week. I got Aussie shampoo and styler from Walgreens.....totally FREE. HT started their triple coupons this week. I can't tell you how many items I got for under 50 cents. It really helps me stock up. I saved OVER $36 dollars in coupons a lone. I saved a total of $76.94 and that was my first trip (HT only lets you use 20 coupons a day). That's a lot of money for this family. $36 would pay for all of us to eat out at a restaurant. $36 is almost half of next weeks groceries. $36 is a lot of money for this family. I got this yogurt, baby powder and dipping sauce for free. I also got dentine gum for free. I love you HT, Walgreens and CVS!! Thank you for giving our family free things, and groceries for cheap!!

Money Saving Mania

I've got the fever....saving money....it's so addicting!! I don't have pictures, but let me tell you what I got. I got a free razor coming in the mail....I nice mens one. Next at Walgreens I got one bar of Neutrogena soap free, some Ecotrin Asprin, and two twelve packs of soda. (all free) I also bought two more bars of Neutrogena soap. I spent $6 and got back $12. Not too bad. CVS didn't have deals I wanted for this week.
Next, yard sale finds. I started Friday morning and got a new pink scripture purse plus a pair of pants for Jacob for school. Friday night I went to Lydia's to help her and got so many treasures....some nice books for me and the kids, a Steve Green CD (I love Steve Green), some mini loaf pans, a barbie for Jenna, legos for Jacob, a basketball for Joshua, some place mats and a Dave Ramsey book and cd set unopened (I'm not sure if I'm ready to follow of his methods). This morning we went back out and found a game for Jenna, Lincoln logs for Jacob, a Duke hat for Joshua, some jewelry and jewelry boxes for Jenna, a nerf gun and some big black pipes for our backyard that we were about ready to go to Lowe's for.

Early Edition of Money Saving Monday

Monday mornings are rough, so I thought I would post early again. This week was a FABULOUS money saving week. To start the week off, I got two FREE bottles of Herbal Essence shampoo, a three pack of Dial soap and some Old Spice hair and body wash (not for me of course). Next I saved at the grocery store. Harris Teeter ran their Super Doubles, so of course, I was there. I saved $30 in coupons (this is not counting the savings of using my VIC card). Coupon clipping does pay!! Finally yesterday at the yard sales (we managed to get some in before the rain) the kids got two videos, I bought a game for 25 cents and some great Christian hardback books for 50 cents each. Jack managed to snag a deal on some action figures which are worth some money on Ebay, so hopefully we will make some money. I LOVE saving my family money!! Sorry I didn't take pictures, but I have a lot on my camera from Jacob's party.

Money Saving Monday

I had a great week again. I got some shave cream, panty liners, and two deodorants all for free this past week. On top of that, I was able to go to some yard sales for about 45 minutes Saturday before my day got incredibly busy. Jacob got a video for 25 cents, Joshua found a book for 25 cents, I found Jacob a nice pair of shoes for $1 and we got a new DVD/VCR player for $7!! Our DVD player broke and we wanted a new dvd/vcr player and we ended up with one that was better than the one we had!! Can't wait to see how I can save this week!!

is it really worth it......

I know a lot of people who do not use coupons at all.....and that got me thinking...am I wasting my time on Sundays cutting out coupons? Well, I think after this week I realized I am not wasting time....I'm saving my family money. My first point.....yesterday I went to HT and saved $52.49 on my order. $32.57 of that was coupons I used!!! That's about enough money for us to go out one night as a family. I was quite proud. I went back today and saved $29.25.....again $18.64 was my coupons!! So I saved $51.21 in coupons alone this week not counting the deals for using my vic card. I love it when HT runs triples or super doubles, but I love knowing that in less than one week I have saved $51 just by cutting out coupons out!!******I just went back today for a few items I couldn't get at the other stores and saved another $21.60, which brings my total in coupons alone to $72.81!!!************

Money Saving Monday (early)

My freebies for the week include one box of rice krispies, two nivea lip care items, 12 pack of diet coke, two Gatorade's, and two propel waters (which I have really grown to like). The drinks were all mainly because I had $7 to expire, and there was nothing I wanted or needed to keep the coupons rolling, so I'll have to start from scratch again at Walgreens. The lip care and rice krispies were free from CVS and I was able to get money back to keep things rolling! Happy Monday!

Money Saving Monday (early) and misc.

My week was slow. Seems like the stores didn't have anything I wanted. I did snatch some of this mouth rinse for the kids and some of this body wash/soap. At least the mouth rinse came with a free travel size!!! Hoping for a better week ahead!!
I hope to post later this week details about the prayer request. I hope to know by the end of this week and am hoping for a great report to tell you. Thank you for praying!

Money Saving Monday

I know it's still Sunday, but I wanted to get this posted. I had a GREAT week of freebies......first last Sunday I went to CVS and got 3 twelve packs of drinks, aussie shampoo and two vitamin waters.....all for free, plus ECB's back!! Next Harris Teeter had their super double coupons this week. I LOVE it when HT runs their super doubles (doubles any coupon that is 1.98 or less) or their triples. I got two containers of sour cream, dental floss, baby powder, pop tarts, gum and lip gloss for free! I also got A TON of deals for $1 or less! The great thing is that I saved $33 in coupons alone this week, and that's not counting the VIC card specials! Thank you HT! Can't wait until next time!!!

Money Saving Monday

This week I got me some hair gel, paper towels and some more dove men care (not gray hair touchup, lol). I also got a 12 pack of diet coke, but I didn't get a picture of that. Not the greatest of weeks, but who can complain for free stuff, plus more money to spend the next time!!

Money Saving Monday.......

I had a pretty good week after a very slow previous week. (They were out of all the deals I was wanting) I managed to get all of this for free. I got two chap sticks, a bottle of Advil, Rice Krispies, crackers, eye drops, and some men's body wash. I love Walgreens and CVS!!!! I also love the thrill of hunting out the bargains!

Money Saving Monday

I didn't do as well this week because of my schedule and having sick kids, but I still snagged up a few freebies. I was able to get the Oust for free thanks for ECB's and a buy one get one free coupon (and I have needed it this weekend) plus I got back $6 more dollars from the deal. I love it when the cashier is impressed! I also got another box of rice. Next I got some soap and a thermacare heat wrap which Joshua really needed yesterday too. Thank you God!
I need to apologize for my post yesterday. I was at the lowest point of my day yesterday. However, I do want to keep it to look back on. Things hopefully will be brighter today. Thank you for the two people who called me last night to check up on me and to let me know we were missed. You will never know how much that meant to me!! It is exactly what I needed. And thank you Wes for checking up on Joshua. I think he was too sick to realize what was going on, but I hope Joshua can learn by your fine example.

Money Saving Monday

Here are my free items for the week. Harris Teeter ran "super doubles" where they will double your coupon up to $1.98, so I took full advantage of it. The top picture shows rice and WW muffins (which I never buy) that were absolutely free with my double coupons. The bottom picture shows that I got wet ones, and two lysol wipes for free. The light bulbs, Oust and candy bar came from CVS but with my ECB's, they were also free! I also stocked up and got a lot of items for around 25 cents.

Holiday Madness

I love this time of year. I love eating like crazy, being with family, listening to Christmas music, decorating the tree, wrapping presents, trying to deal with a crazy schedule etc. Most of all, I love to shop! I love to sniff out bargains! This year, we were able to buy a bigger TV (still not huge, just 32 inch). We started at Target and got there at 4:40 but were not able to snatch up a deal, so we high tailed it to Walmart and got one. We went back to bed, got back up and did some more shopping!! I also went out Thursday morning before I cooked and snatched these FREE items!! (and I hope to get more today). Boy, do I love CVS and Walgrees who pay ME to shop with them!!! (two candy bars, two toothpaste, one tooth brush, two deodrants, two bottles of shampoo, and some lotion)
