Since I've shown pictures of Jack and me and pictures of the family, it's time to show pictures of the three kids. I think they all turned out great! These were just a few of the many shots she got. Sure love my kids!

civil war field trip

Jacob and I had a really good time on his field trip. It is such an enjoyable field trip. We drove to right outside Petersburg, VA to Pamplin Park and spent 5 hours there. I really enjoy having a tour guide do this trip as I feel you get so much more. I guess I have to go one more time next year with Jenna.....by then maybe I could get paid to do the tour:)

Abe

Jacob's class has been studying the civil war and today they presented their projects. Jacob choose to do Abe Lincoln. The class did a really good job presenting their work. On Friday, we are going to Virginia to one of the battle fields to learn more about the civil war. I love this field trip. I hate that it is 2 hours away, but it is worth it. I went with Joshua when he was in third grade. I'm not a history lover, but I so enjoyed this field trip.

My Monkeys

I think Jenna has Jake beat by just a little bit! I was telling Jenna about a little girl at school that could make a really good monkey face (when I subbed last week). I must say Jenna isn't too far behind!

Jacob, Jacob

Jacob was goofing off the other night and spiked his hair all by himself. He can't do this for awhile now because Jack cut his hair!! The other picture was of him working outside. It just finished raining and for some reason my camera fogged up and it came out blurry!

soccer camp

Jacob and Jenna have been in soccer camp each night this week. They seem to be really enjoying themselves. They are in different groups, based on their ages. Every night the coach picks 1-2 players who did a great job and are "campers of the day". Wednesday Jacob and Jenna both got campers of the day! Monday night the Carolina Railhawks came out to visit and they got their autographs on the back of their shirts. I didn't have my camera with me, but I was able to snap some pictures off my camera phone. I'll try to get those posted once I figure out what I am doing!!

My little buddy turns 8 today! Wow....time is going so fast! Happy Birthday, Jacob. We love you!!

The other night I think I needed a "mommy time out", but instead, I got another dose of laughter from Jacob.

ME: Jacob, would you please quit wallering all over my rug.
Jacob: Mom, I'm not wallering.
Jacob: (a few seconds later) Mom, what does wallering mean?

I'm not even sure if wallering is a real word. It didn't come up on my spell check, but it's a word my mom used to use a lot!!

Jacob, the cold, and our discussions!!

This is Jacob from the other night. He wanted to get warm after taking his shower. He totally cracked me up!!

Sometimes I love the discussions that come up in car trips. Jacob and Jenna wanted to know how much it would cost if we all went out to dinner tonight (which we are not). I told them for all of us to go to Fridays or Chilis it would be $40. They couldn't believe it. After I convinced them I wasn't kidding this discussion came up:

Jacob: Mom, how can you afford things like going out to dinner

Me: well, sometimes we have to make sacrifices in order to do special things

Jacob: yuck, I can't stand blood!

Jenna: where are we going to find a lamb!!

I totally died laughing! I couldn't even try to explain what a "sacrifice" was because they have only heard about Bible sacrifices and didn't believe a sacrifice could be something other than blood and lambs!!

craft day

To add to the busyness of last week, Jacob's class had a craft morning. The teacher had 6 tables and the kids broke up into groups of 2-3 kids. Each group would complete their station and then move to another craft. I loved the way she had this organized. They got to decorate sugar cookies, make a snowman snow measure, and ornament, a gift bag, a picture frame and another craft. It was a lot of fun for all the kids.

Dear Mom and dad......

Last night we took Jacob and Jenna to see Despicable Me at the $1 theater (actually $1.50). Josh was away with Travis. Jack bought a bucket that he can get filled all year long so we got a big bucket of popcorn for $2.50. This morning out of the blue Jacob handed me a card. In his best cursive writing it said (outside)" Dear mom and dad" (inside) "Thank you for the movie and popcorn. I love you". I must say something so little was so touching to me. I love it when someone, especially a child, expresses gratitude. I can tell that this family time really meant a lot to him. I think he likes times like these, and I think he likes times when Joshua is gone so that he can have more attention. I think it's hard sometimes to be the middle child.

Jake's Field Trip

I went with Jacob's class on Tuesday to the Museum in Durham. It was pretty cool. We didn't get to see the entire place and I would like to go back some day. The only bad thing is this museum is not free like the ones in Raleigh, and of course the drive.

The Big Presentation

Jacob had his presentation last night. He did really good. I was proud of him and all his work. His was one of the best, but Joshua said I have to say that, but it really is true!! I love Mrs. Harris. She really goes all out when the class has something like this. The entire room was decorated in zoo animals. The kids projects were all neatly displayed, and then she had food to go with the theme......zebra cakes, monkey munch, snake eggs (grapes), lion food (snack mix) etc. She really puts a lot of thought into it. She even started the presentation by saying "welcome to the zoo.....I hope you enjoy your tour, please keep hands and feet in at all times. You're tour guides are excited to tell you all about the exhibits".
