Mothers Day, Part 2

Jenna's mother's day tea was today. Although my camera didn't work at preschool, I got some shots at home. I love the handprint that the two of us made. It says " No matter how old I get, I'll always reach for you!"

A Mommy's Prayer

Dear Lord, it's such a hectic day,
With little time to stop and pray,
For life's been anything but calm
since You called me to be a Mom.

Running errand, matching socks,
Building dreams with wooden blocks,
Cooking, cleaning, finding shoes
And other stuff that children lose

Fitting lids on bottled bugs,
Wiping tears and giving hugs.
A stack of last week's mail to read
So where's the quiet time I need?

Yet, when I steal a moment, Lord,
Just at the sink or ironing board,
To ask the blessings of Your grace,
I see then, in my small one's face

That you have blessed me all the while
And I stop to kiss that precious smile.

Strawberry Picking Again

We are going back to Smith's nursery today. I hope the rain holds off. I am ready for another bucket of berries.....can you believe that? Here is what I have done with the two buckets.....

1. washed them and ate them right away
2. bought little cakes and whip cream and ate them
3. gave some to my neighbor
4. froze some
5. covered some with chocolate!

Any other ideas for another bucket? I don't think I could make jam! I thought about making some smoothies or something if I could find a recipe.

Super Savings Saturday

Well, my savings for the week wasn't that great. Since I was gone, I didn't spend much time at CVS, but I did get a free 12 pack of diet coke, some yogurt and baby wipes absolutely free, plus overage. That should be the last of my wipes for awhile. We went to yard sales and didn't have much luck. We got a cute checker set for the kids, the kind with the rug and the giant checkers. We also got a vacuum cleaner that we needed since I broke the other one. I also found some clothes for the boys. We were headed home, and then we hit the high school's yard sale. I hit the mother load there!! They started the day selling clothes for $1, and then marked down to 50 cents, and when I got there, they had stuff everything in a bag for $1!!! Yipee! I found Josh some Dockers pants (they may be for another year yet), one red polo for school (still on the hunt for school clothes) and a red Tommy polo for school. Overall, I got 19 shirts for the boys, 1 pair of pj's, 2 pair of pants, a pair of swim trunks. Jenna got a jean skirt (for about 2 years from now) a jean jacket, a shirt, blouse, and a sweater, and I got 2 shirts. Grand total for clothes $4!!!!! Yes, that is $4. We spent one dollar on the checker set and $10 on the vacuum. I am just so excited! Hope to find more school clothes as the boys are hard on them, but I have a start!

May Day

Yesterday was May 1st. I remember as a little girl, I used to do "May Day". I don't know what it meant, how it got started, or anything about it. I just remember making little "baskets" for my neighbors filled with flowers, candy, or little trinkets. I would put the basket on the door step, ring the bell, and run. It worked a little bit as my neighbors could easily look down the road and know it was me, not to mention the fact that there were only a couple of us it could be, but for some reason, I remembered this last night.
Jack is in CT, and comes home tonight! I am so glad this was a quick trip. I have school today, errands to run, a doctors appt to re-check Jenna's ears, and that is it. Tomorrow is Yard sale day and I am so excited. I am putting a head band in my hair and going (watch out anyone who sees me). There are so many out there tomorrow and I just hope to find some resell items as well as clothes for the boys...both for school and home. Check tomorrow to find out if I got any deals, plus my free items for the week!!!

Yum Yum Strawberries!!

Jenna's class went strawberry picking today. It was a lot of fun. It was the perfect day to go. The kids enjoyed eating them. I think this time they did pick more than they ate. Jacob's class will go Monday, so we will be going there again. It is the teacher's favorite field trip of the year! They also have baby goats to look at, and the kids learn about bees and honey, and they get to feed the catfish.
