Projects, Runs, Etc......

I'm taking a break from our family photos to show you what we have been up to.  Jenna has been working on a paper about the civil war.  Her topic was Harriet Beecher Stowe.  She did a poster board and report on her.  Thursday she will dress up and present her report and then Friday we will go to Petersburg, VA for our civil war field trip.  The girls and I have been making crafts.  Last week we did painted hand print turkeys and today we did hand print/footprint turkeys.  We also do a letter of the week.  This week it is L for Lion and we will do that tomorrow.  Saturday Joshua and ran in another 5k with some other people from CBC.  It was for a little girl in Missy's class so it was a good cause.  I was very impressed with the organization of this race and will do it again next year.  It was at Lake Benson.  I did good and bad. Good in that I did the 5k in 32 minutes without stopping.....5 minutes off my time from the August race.  The bad is that Michael and Missy beat the tail off of me!!  I hated it when Missy passed me....it made me feel so defeated. Joshua ran with blisters on his foot from roller blading a few days earlier.  He finished it right behind Missy (which he didn't like either).  The winner of the entire 5k was an 11 year old boy who did it in 19 minutes!!  Josh finished first in his age group and got a $25 gift card.  I was a proud momma!!  I'm starting to enjoy running a little more now.  I am down 49 pounds, but I have been stuck for over a month trying desperately to lose this last pound and can't get it off.  I wanted to lose it by Sunday to say that I lost 50 pounds in 11 months, but I don't think it's going to happen.  Next up for Josh and me....the Krispy Kreme run in February!!

WHAT? It bothered you that a SOLDIER who has kept up her training since leaving the US Army passed you? Are you serious? Hmmm. Poor Josh. It's not just his Dad he gets his competitiveness from. :)
