Monthly Checkup

Another month is over. How are your goals going? Mine are actually making some projects. First of all, we took the boy's bunk beds down. The room is crowded, but the LOVE it, and it's easier for me to change sheets (can you picture me climbing up and changing Josh's bed?). We also did project number one which was re-paint their walls. We fixed all the bad spots and kept it the same color. It looks really good. I'm hoping for some warmer weather. Our other projects are: paint the front porch, paint shutters, and stain the deck.

We did have one family over for dinner and we have another one this month, so I am doing better on this. I definitely do not have the spiritual gift of hospitality, but it is good for me to have others over.

Lastly, the weight. I think if I did weight watchers or something the weight would really come off, however, I can say I have lost 6 lbs now. (the scale will probably teeter again this morning). I am proud of that, but I still think I should have lost more by 3 months, but we are getting there. So, how are you doing?????

Questions and Thoughts....

1. Why is it when you think your hair looks the worse, you get more compliments on it?

2. Why is it that people make stupid remarks to you? Do they not think before they speak? Ok, I'm guilty of this one, I must admit, but I had someone make a comment to us today basically saying how "poor" Jack and I am. Ok, we don't have a lot of money, but he has a job and we survive, but I hope we don't look that poor.

3. I found out the boys have their entire spring break. I thought they had to make up some days. While I am happy they get some relaxation, I was really counting on some days to myself in two weeks.

4. I am grateful I have Monday off (tomorrow) and the boys do have school. I am renewing my drivers license which always makes me nervous!!! Your stuck with this horrible picture for 4-5 years and what if I can't remember what the signs mean????

5. After my early morning DMV experience, I plan on walking and getting some errands and housework done.

6. How about you...do you have any misc. thoughts you care to share?????

Report Cards

The boys got their third report cards last week. Once again I was very pleased. Jacob got all E's and his reading has improved so much! The words seem to flow a little better for him now. Joshua got 1 A and the rest were all B's. I was VERY happy with that, but he was very disappointed. I tried to convince him that it was very good and that I made mostly B's in school (I didn't mention my C's!!)

Easter Craft

Last week I made time to sit down with Jenna and do a craft with her. She LOVES crafts, and things get so crazy around here with me running around, but I made sure I stopped and worked with her. We took a baby food jar and painted the lid white and then added eyes and ears. We also took white pom poms and glued them on for the tail and legs. I was going to take construction paper and make whiskers but Jenna told me to use pipe cleaners. I thought since it was her project it would work, and it did. The only thing not shown is we added a small pink nose out with a pom pom, and I had to get that at school. We filled the jar with jelly beans and gave them out as a treat.

Ask My Readers....What Would You Do?,,,,,,

I talked with a friend over the weekend. (no names listed....she reads my blog) She asked me what would I do in this situation, and I wasn't really sure, so I decided to ask my readers...what would YOU do? My friend celebrated a special anniversary with her husband over the weekend. Her husband wanted to do something special for his wife, so he arranged for her to get away for a half day. She thinks the idea sounds great, but the cost of this is around $150. As much as she wants to do this, she keeps thinking about what this money could buy. She has 4 kids. She could buy herself and her kids some clothes with this money, she could buy two weeks of groceries with this money. Her husband agrees that this is a lot of money to go out with, but he told her this is a special event and they only celebrate this anniversary one time and he wants her to do what she wants to do. He is ok with her going, but understands if she would rather use their money in a different way.
Part of me would go in a heartbeat, but the other part of me wonders how many clothes I could buy for me and my kids, or how I could buy groceries for two weeks, or many other needed things for the house. What would you do?????

Misc. Thoughts

I guess I have spring fever. Saturday morning I woke up a little late, but I went out yard saling for the first time. There aren't a lot out there yet, but that will change in a couple of weeks. I did hit a small community one and a few others. I thought I did pretty well. I got a booster car seat (for resale) for $1, a pair of PJ's for Jacob, two winter shirts for the boys and two scooby doo videos for the boys. Total spent $3.50. We were able to go to the park Saturday afternoon and just have a nice Saturday afternoon. Friday Joshua went to the hockey game with Jack and I watched Dora and Scooby Doo with Jacob.
I guess I better get my cash ready because I'm really ready to find some deals. I LOVE yard sales!!!

Joshua and the Urgent Care Visit

I was cooking dinner and getting ready to go out with friends. Jenna was in the tub and the boys were out playing with friends. I look out the window and see Joshua running over to the house with tears in his eyes. I thought maybe the little girl had been mean to him or something, but then he started in this panic mode and told me he swallowed something!! I calmed him down to find out what happened. He swallowed a piece of candy!!! I gave him some water and he kept saying "mom it hurts" "mom, do something" (ok, that one got me....BUT I knew I had to stay CALM!!!). I talked with the neighbors to see what had happened, what I should do etc. I gave him some more water and he started to throw it up which concerned me. "Mom, it hurts when I swallow, it won't go down". Ok, I called Jack who was almost home and we are off to urgent care. Thankfully, no one was in the waiting room and they took Joshua back right away. They took x-rays and the couldn't find any candy. They examined him and came to the conclusion the candy had made its way down and probably scratched his throat. He was put on "soft foods" for the night. I think it made him better just to get a milk shake.!!! I think the poor little fellow was just scared to death. It amazes me how I can stay so calm during things like this but other things can "shake" me. I was still able to go out with Traci and Kim and have a great evening. I called to check on Joshua and he said he was playing "wii" and beat Jack at tennis, so I knew he was a-ok. Thank you God!!!

Blessed With Friends

I am just a blessed woman. I have so many great friends. Friday a friend had me over for lunch and conversation time while Jenna played. Saturday, another friend invited our family over for dinner, but we had to cancel because Jacob got sick. Tonight, I am going out with my very special friend, Traci. (we've never gotten away from the husbands and kids together before, so I'm looking forward to this). Traci and I both have gotten back some test results that are a relief to both of us, so we are going to celebrate. These are just a few of my friends. It made me really realize how blessed I truly am to have great friends in my life.

Joshua Gets Baptized

We had a baptism today at church and Joshua was one of the people who decided to get baptized. I appreciate the fact that pastor talks to each individual before the get baptized to make sure they understand what they are doing and to make sure they are truly saved.

Carpool Adventures

Here is Jenna and her baby on the drive to carpool line! I am so going to miss this next year! What am I going to do without my little girl around? I wish I could hold her back another year, but that is selfish because she is ready to go to kindergarten. Guess I have baby fever....but don't worry....we're done!!

Preschool Problems

We have class pictures today and guess what....Jenna gets gum in her hair last night!! I could have died. Luckily I have the Internet which gives me so many ideas. You can just google "how to get gum out of hair" and get so many answers. I used peanut butter and that did ok, but when I used cooking oil, it came right out. Thankfully I didn't have to cut it. I remember one time right before my class pictures, I cut one side of my hair!!!
Yesterday, I had to talk to a mom. I knew Melody was tired of talking to her, so I stepped in. I have this child who is so DIFFICULT to work with. Probably one of the worst I have had. I told mom how disrespectful this child was. She talked back to both of us all day and pushed us. I told mom and she said "oh, I know, she was like that all week at home...in fact, it got so bad my husband had to leave to get a break from it"......can you believe this woman? then she looks at me and says "we got a puppy this weekend, do you think this has anything to do with it". At this point I'm staring blankly and wanting to say so badly "lady, get a clue already". I told her the dog had nothing to do with it. The child is getting worse, and on top of it all, I think there is something "not right" with the child. Obviously mom and dad are not going to do anything about it, and I still have two months of school to go!! I'm praying hard that I don't get her back next year. That's ugly, I know, but I don't think I can handle her another year. The sad part is that it's really not her fault. It's the parents fault for not disciplining their child. It's very obvious because we will tell her not to do something and she'll gradually do it again, looking at us the entire time, thinking we won't follow through! Surprise!! Melody and I both follow through with what we say! This is why T/Th are so hard on me this year!!!

A Busy Weekend

Friday started with family night. We watched Wall E. I didn't like the movie, but the kids did. I just thought it was slow and boring. It was family night though and we were together. Saturday morning we worked very hard around the house to get some misc things done. After that Tiffany came over so that we could go out. Jack and I enjoyed a few hours together. Sunday was church and then I had to run Jenna to a friend's b-day party. It was such a beautiful weekend. I have spring fever!!!

My Friend Dottie

Last Saturday while all the ladies were beading (and since I couldn't figure it out) I ended up getting to talk to Dottie. I think God really planned for us to talk because it did me a world of good. I never really get a chance to talk to Dottie or spend time with her, but she works with my kids and that means a lot to me. Dottie has not only taken the time to help by letting me talk, helping me learn a new exercise routine, but she has helped me spiritually...which was needed. She took the time to come over to my house tonight to check up on me, and to help me with some stuff. I really appreciate her willingness to come over, but most of all to know a friend is praying for me and checking up on me. I have needed that for a long time.

I Need More Two Hour Delays.....

I need more two hour delays. It's amazing what can get done. Although I didn't clean the house, this is what I did get accomplished. I slept till 6:25, I got a shower, I read the Bible, I blogged, I exercised for 20 minutes, I fixed the kids waffles (frozen), fixed their snacks, did a load of laundry and I made dinner for tonight. I also am proud of myself because for the first time I tried something new. While I made us our meatloaf for tonight, I made and extra one and froze it. It's my first freezer meal, and I am so excited! I'd like to get into this, although I can't do much as we don't have a large freezer. What this mom needs is more two hour delays!!!

Weekend Highs and Lows

The weekend was a pretty good weekend. I went to a ladies fellowship group Saturday morning. The good was that I enjoyed being with my friends. Lows, well, I really couldn't figure out how to "bead" so I didn't make a necklace. I'd like to learn, but I am much more of a hands on, one on one attention person. My next good was that when I came home, Jack had completely cleaned my house (thanks to the rain...thanks honey). He knew I would be stressed with company coming over so he didn't want me to stress. Next, he took two of the kids and ran errands and got the bulletins for me which was good and then it gave me more time to myself. I enjoyed a shower with no interruptions, listening to CD"S etc. We had our first company for the year (one step toward my goal). We enjoyed pizza, brownies and playing Wii. Sunday was church and I had childrens church and it went really quick and very well. The only "low" point today was the rain and the cold and the possible snow coming in tonight. The kids spring bread is getting very short. So my weekend only had a couple of "low" moments, but it was a good one! How was your weekend?
