A Busy Day

We started the day with Wes, Wil and Skye coming over for the morning. It was good for my kids to have something to do. They enjoyed playing with their friends. After that, Jenna got her haircut.....I think it looks so cute!! Later that night, Sara and I went out, but that's another post coming in the future.

Shopping

So after our movie the other day I stopped by Kohl's. I found that they are having some good clearance sales right now. I found these shirts for Jenna. She can wear them now, but I got them mainly for next year. They were 80% off, and I got them for $2.40 each. I might just have to go back and see if I can find more....and some stuff for me!!!

Movies With Friends

Yesterday we went to the movies with some friends at church. We loved the price......FREE!! Every year the theater runs two free movies T, W and Thursday. The kids enjoyed getting together with their friends, and it was fun to get out of the house.

Banana Treats

We haven't made these banana treats in a long time. Since we went to the grocery store today, we bought some bananas and made them. Jenna helped me cut them and then we put them in the freezer for a couple of hours. She then went to play with Alana for a couple of hours, so Jacob helped me put the nuts and sprinkles on them. Joshua doesn't like them, so he is out of luck!!

Deals for the Week

Here are the deals I got last week and today. I got two packs of notebook paper, two composition books, a small notebook, a pack of pens, tampons, stapler, sticky notes, eraser caps, and two packs of different pents. I also got 3 12 packs of soft drinks....all free. I'll still have a little bit to get the kids for school (markers, crayons etc) unless of course CVS puts them for free in the next couple of weeks. Oh, I also got Joshua a free backpack yesterday!!!

Happy Birthday, Jack!!!

Someone in our house has a birthday today! It's the bid 3-9!!! Happy Birthday, sweetheart.....I love you!!! I remember leaving college and not having anyone. I went several years thinking I would never get married. I went to the singles group and a couple months later met you. I remember praying to God for just one date with you....just one date! A few weeks later you asked me out, a week later we went out, and we've been together since.!
Happy Birthday, sweetheart!!!!

New York Part 2

After walking forever to find ground zero we headed back. So many workers were trying to hand us brochures for bus tours. I FINALLY listened to one of them and found out we could take a night trip plus the tickets were good for Friday and Saturday!!! Jack and I enjoyed a nice tour on top of the bus and it felt good after walking all day. The tour took us by the Empire State Bldg, the flat building (where Spiderman was taped) and guess what.....Ground Zero!!! It also took us down by the Staton Island Ferry, near the Brooklyn Bridge and all over. We saw China Town and so many other things. The bus even took us over to Brooklyn for a short visit over there. It was so nice.

Friday morning we grabbed breakfast and got right back on the bus and went to the Staton Island Ferry to see the Statue of Liberty. That was the closest we got to it, but it was a nice view. After that we walked to see the New York Stock Exchange (although they won't let you in) and Wall Street. We were also able to get closer to Ground Zero. Even though they are building, you still stand in amazement of what happened there. We rode the bus some more and then went to Shake Shack. It's located in Madison Square Park and I heard there is always a line. Sure enough, at 3pm we still waited for 45 minutes. I'm thinking "this better be worth it...and it was. Best cheeseburgers and fries, plus the chocolate milkshake tasted like Dove chocolate. They also have a flavor of the day and it was some type of blueberry....out of this world. So good that I had Jack take a picture. We ended the night by going on top of the Empire State Bldg. It was very cloudy, but I'm still glad we could go. More about Saturday and my favorite pictures tomorrow.

One of my favorite movies....Cary Grant. You have to see it!!!

New York, Part 1

Our flight left at 6:15 am Thursday morning. We were at our hotel before 9 am. We stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn in Times Square both nights (first night we paid for, the second was paid for by credit card points). I have to say this was the best place I have stayed away from home. The king size bed and pillow was heavenly.

We headed straight to Times Square and looked around and then headed down to 5th Ave. We visited FAO Swartz, Disney, American Girl, and other stores as well as St. Patrick's Cathedral.
The Star Wars was made from legos and the soldier was made of jelly beans.

Next we went to Rockefeller Center and Top of the Rock to see a great view of the city. We checked back to our room, rested for about 10 minutes and then went to look for Ground Zero. We ended up looking for a LONG time because we got the wrong directions!!! After having no more energy to walk any more, we headed back and found out information about tour buses. I would highly recommend this. We bought tickets, ate dinner and had a fabulous 2 hour ride around New York City and Brooklyn. The tickets were also good for Friday and Saturday, so I'll post about that later.
