Toothless

Jacob has had several loose teeth. Finally, Friday at school he lost one, unfortunately, it got lost in the playground mulch (at least he didn't swallow it this time!!) This is what he looked like.

Then, Sunday when he came home from church, he informed me he lost another one!!! The tooth fairy has to go to the bank today to keep up with him!!!!

Updates

First here are my freebies for the week. I got all of this (except the Tylenol) for free. I also got two more bottles of the sobe water for free, but just didn't get a picture. CVS had them buy one get one free, plus I had two coupons for BOGO so I got 4 free. The Tylenol cost$1.oo so that wasn't bad. I saved $17 in coupons this week at the grocery store, and by using my card on top of that, I saved a total of $36.

I worked a week of camp this week and am so tired. Three of us worked and we had 19 kids....whew!! I am exhausted!!! Priscilla informed me today that she is not adding another 3 year old class because she still needs 10 kids before she could even have a class. I did ask her when she asked me to work camp about things and apparently I do have a job next year for 5 days. I don't know if I will be with Melody or not. I like the other lady, but hope that I don't get switched to her. She brings a lot of her personal life to school, and I really don't want to hear it for 5 days. I talked with Priscilla today and she doesn't know who she is going to cut or how she will arrange the current staff. I was still SCS would tell me that they would use more of me or that even a non-teaching position would become available (since the school is growing) but haven't heard anything. I'll be ok if I stay with Melody 5 days a week. I'll be ok if Priscilla changes her mind and says I can work 3 days a week (although she doesn't usually go back on her word) Please continue to pray that God would clearly show me what I should do.

Hidden Valley Wonders Trip

My kids got to go with some friends to Miss Dottie's house for a "field trip" (although Joshua said it wasn't really a field trip). I didn't get to go because I had to work at summer camp (this is what happens when you pray for extra money). Anyway, they had a blast. They really liked the goats, trail and horses. I was proud of Jenna for going and getting on the horse, although I haven't seen proof that she did it! It was good for them to get away for a day. They have been staying with me....playing with toys, going outside on the playground and watching videos for 3 hours.

Mommy and Jacob Time

I try to spend one on one time with each kid, but with busy schedules and three kids, that gets hard to do. Jacob has been bugging me to take him to IHOP. He LOVES pancakes. I finally found a night where it would be good to take him, so I took him last night and he was SO HAPPY! He gobbled that pancake right up. It had bananas for the smile, whip creme for the nose and strawberries for the eyes. He was supposed to take the yogurt and make hair, but he decorated it his own way. I guess I need to make these at home again for the kids!!

Blanket Making

Lydia came over for lunch Thursday and showed me how to make her tie blankets. I had the material that Jacob picked out, so he got the blanket (I had bought one at her yard sale for Joshua). I hope to make one for Jenna so that she can take it to school. Thanks, Lydia for showing me how to make these!!!

Getting Things Done

I guess in a way I have enjoyed this rain. I was wanting to tackle some outdoor stuff, but I have gotten a lot done inside. Yesterday I took down my living room curtains and washed them....they were so nasty. I did two loads of laundry, changed the sheets in the boy's room, moved Jenna's bed and vacuumed behind it, and then I finally changed her bedroom. I bought this comforter and curtains at Lydia's yard sale and Jenna LOVES IT!!!

Friends

Last night I was able to see my friends from our old church. I was able to get with Heather, Kim, and Traci. We went to Macaroni Grill and ate and sat and talked for 3 plus hours. It was good to see them again, and the food was great. It was nice to get out and away for the night!!

I know some people are not fans of facebook, but a couple of weeks ago, I found a friend I went to high school with in Illinois, before we moved here. We started talking and I found out that she was coming to Duke because her daughter was having surgery. She contacted me again and said it was Duke Raleigh Hospital, which was a relief because I know where that is and it is much closer. Anyway, I was able to go Saturday and we went over to McDonalds and talked for 2 hours. I was a little nervous because I haven't seen or talked to her in 25 years (showing my age) but we were able to talk like we had been together all this time. I am so glad I had this chance to see Amy again.

Beach Vacation Part 2

The weather at the beach was perfect. Not one day of rain, only at night a couple of times. Wednesday we got lunch at a little place down the street then we went to Krispy Kreme for some HOT donuts. Oh, they were SOOOO good! I could eat a box of these! We then headed to Broadway at the Beach and walked around and visited some stores. Thursday we just enjoyed our last day of vacation at the pool and beach and went to Chili's for lunch.!

Beach Trip, Part 1

I'll have to divide the pictures in two. Here is our run down of activities for Monday and Tuesday:
Monday: arrived at hotel, room not ready so we went to pools. Got into our room at 1:45, settled in, went to order pizza hut pizza and off to the grocery store. Ate dinner, off to the beach and pools.
Tuesday: woke up and went to the beach until about 10:30, then headed to the pools. Came up watched Andy Griffith and then went to Lonestar....added bonus...kids ate free!!! Went to Walmart, Old Navy and then went back so that we could go to the beach and pool!

Vacation

I don't have my computer, so I can't post pictures. I'm using Jack's laptop while he is out jogging, but I thought I would just post a minute. We are having a great time. We got to the resort about 12:30 yesterday, used the pool, got our room, used the pool, went and got pizza and a few groceries, and then went out to the ocean! We have done much of the same today. So far our only drawback has been Joshua's ears hurting. He was crying last night in pain....not sure if that is because of his ear problems/ and one tube being in, but we got some ear plugs for him and that has seemed to help. I'm glad we go back to the ENT next month just to have it checked.
We have saved money this year by buying restaurant gift cards during the last few months. Every time I knew my grocery bill was lower, I would add on a gift card so that we woul not be "bombarded" with expenses all in one week. I think I will do it again next year. I only do it when my bill is lower than normal, and like I said, it keeps vacation expenses down. I could get used to being here!!!

Flower Girl

We had such a busy weekend especially with the wedding, but we got everything done. Jenna was a beautiful flower girl, and I just have to "brag" about how well she did. She did her job, stood up there the entire time and just acted like a pro. She was very excited about being in the wedding and she was very beautiful!
We're off to the beach!! Not sure yet if we are taking the laptop. If we do, I'll post pictures mid week, otherwise, I'll post Friday afternoon!

Vacation on my mind......

My first week of summer break has been ok. My only problem is that I need to get back into some type of routine or I will go nuts!!! I also need to find some projects to work on to keep me busy. If I do both of these things, I won't eat the pantry dry!!! But this "routine" will have to wait to start until another week because next week we are going to the beach!!! We'll be leaving Monday morning and will be back early Friday afternoon! I can't wait to go!
I have a few projects in mind. I also have a couple of activities for the kids......a couple of day camps, free movies, etc, but I'm looking for more things to do. Not a lot that we are so overwhelmed with activities, but things to give the kids something different to do, and to keep mama happy!!!! Any suggestions are more than welcome! Have a great weekend. I may blog from the beach, or I may wait until Friday!

Checkup

I didn't get to post over the weekend about my monthly checkup, so I'll do that now. Goal 1....weight. Well, I wouldn't say I have given up, but I haven't been trying. I've had some physical problems going on that hasn't helped and I haven't been exercising like I should. It's hard for me to get a routine going again. Goal 2, have people over. Again, I have realized I don't have the gift of hospitality, but I am trying. We did have another family over in May. I enjoy it when we do this because I enjoy conversation that isn't interrupted or is through email. Goal 3...Household projects. I feel this one we are making progress. We did get the boys room painted, and now we have gotten the deck stained, and I worked on my flower bed. 3 more to go, and that should be easy as I want to repaint my front porch and then paint our shutters, so I would only need one other project to tackle. I'm thinking about not setting goals for next year. I never seem to accomplish them and sometimes it gets a little depressing!!! At least maybe I can get 2 out of the 3 for this year!!!!

Great Song.......

Jack sent me this link to the the video clip from Fireproof. (If you haven't seen this movie you need to see it). Here is the link to the you tube video. I also have the words. I love the words and the song as it reminds me of "waiting on him" for the answers. Happy Tuesday!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u3b2jw1rjBc&feature=related

I'm waiting
I'm waiting on You, Lord
And I am hopeful I'm waiting on You, Lord
Though it is painful
But patiently, I will wait
I will move ahead, bold and confident
Takeing every step in obedience
While I'm waiting
I will serve You While I'm waiting
I will worship
While I'm waiting
I will not faint
I'll be running the race
Even while I wait
I'm waiting
I'm waiting on You, Lord
And I am peaceful
I'm waiting on You, Lord
Though it's not easy
But faithfully, I will wait
Yes, I will wait
I will serve You while I'm waiting
I will worship while I'm waiting
I will serve You while I'm waiting
I will worship while I'm waiting
I will serve you while I'm waiting
I will worship while I'm waiting on You, Lord

Jacob's sixth birthday celebration

Jacob and the entire family had a great weekend. We left around 8 am Friday and headed to Concord Mills Mall. We "shopped" for a couple of hours and then headed to the Great Wolf Lodge. We were able to check in around 1 and we headed straight to our adventures. It was incredible. Everything was down below on the ground floor. The lines were not bad at all (10 minutes the most and that was Saturday). They have one kiddie pool outside, but other than that, everything is inside, so we didn't have to worry about sunburns! We played until about 4:45 and then headed to Red Robin for Jacob's b-day. He enjoyed opening presents and didn't seemed phased at all when they sang to him. We headed back to the resort, watched a magic show, and then a family show and headed back to the water for 30 minutes before they closed. We headed back to the water at 9:30 and left about 1, so the kids were exhausted. My calves are killing me from walking and playing in the water and walking up 3 flights of stairs every time I wanted to slide. I was surprised on how well Jenna did. She got on everything she was tall enough to do! Jacob did the same thing!
