Tough Decisions

I hate tough decisions.  We are praying about what to do next year with Joshua....back to SCS or homeschool him.  Today was the last day of school and the middle school had a program.  Needless to say I totally lost it....totally!!  It hit me so hard that this could be the last time he has an event at Southside.

Happy Birthday

My baby boy turns 10 today!!  I can't believe it.  It's hard to believe that it has been that long.  I can remember almost every detail of that day.  We love you Jacob!!  You are such a blessing to this family!!

Noah's Landing

Thursday I took the day off to go on a field trip with Jenna to Noah's Landing.  Every year the third grade class goes, and I always had something else to do when Josh and Jake went.  I wanted to make sure I got to go this time.  I really liked the place.  I liked hearing about how the lady got some of her animals (most were rescues) and the uniqueness of some of the animals (some that you won't find in a zoo).  The lady did get a little bit long winded on some of the animals.  I could tell she was losing the attention of some of the kids so I could imagine how younger kids would get tired, but I did like that some of the animals they let you touch or hold.  We got to touch an alligator and some other animals.  Jenna put a snake around her neck (I couldn't do that) and a giant millipede.  The last picture shows Wilbur, a pot bellied pig.  This guy cracked me up.  He just wandered anywhere he wanted.  He had free reign of the place.  Everyone loved him and he was happy to pick up any lunch particles that the kids dropped!! I was glad to finally get to go on a field trip again.

Blessings

I've been wanting a bike.  I don't know why, but I've been wanting to go riding.  I had been looking on Craigs List for a bike and could not find anything.  Last Saturday we got up and hit a couple of community yard sales.  On the second sale there was this bike.  Of course a Mexican man ran up in front of me and asked about the bike and I thought "oh, if I could have just been a few seconds faster I could have beat him to it.".  He hovered over the bike, looked it over and then I couldn't believe my eyes......he walked away!!! (you gotta watch those Mexicans at a yard sale....they get the deals and buy everything).  I immediately went to the bike and asked the lady again how much for the bike and she said "$15".  I called Jack over to look at it to make sure I wasn't getting a beat up bike,...you know one that would cost a lot to fix up (the tires were flat).  Can you believe I had exactly $15 in my pocket!!  We had taken the car so I told the lady I would like to buy it and asked her if she could hold it while I ran to get our van.  She was happy to do it and put it in her garage for me.  I couldn't believe it.  God supplied me with a bike (even though I never thought to ask him for one).  Jack pumped up the tires and the kids and I went for the first time to the green way.  I was in heaven!!  I can't wait to go back and ride.  I can't believe I didn't know about this place.  Jack found a new place to jog and the kids and I can ride.  Oh, and I also got this beautiful name brand sweater for $1 and Jenna got two things to hang on her wall for $1 each.....I think it was my jackpot weekend.  You win some, you lose some weekends, but this was my win weekend.

Mothers Day

Saturday was a fun but busy day for us.  We started by going to yard sales.  I did good (that is my next post).  We've been going out almost every Saturday now.  Some weeks we get nothing, some weeks like this past week, we did great.  Next I ran to get my haircut.  It was getting too thick on top.  I picked up Josh and Jenna and we went to put flowers on my mom's grave and then had lunch with my dad.  I ran home and did some housework and then Josh and I ran in a 5k race!!  Whew!!  It was a night time race....which was totally different, starting at 8:30 and we didn't get home until 10.  That was just my Saturday.  We had another full day on Sunday, but I have to admit this was just a wonderful mother's day weekend.

crafts

So I didn't get very crafty this year with mother's day gifts/crafts.  I bought aprons and had the girls paint their hands and feet and thumb prints.  Not crazy about the outcome, but I guess it's the thought that counts.

Marriage

Yesterday I attended a bridal shower for a girl in our church who will soon be getting married.  They had a game where the wives brought in a picture from their wedding.  I didn't do it because I didn't have the right size photo, nor was it in a frame, but I thought I would share it on my blog.  It's hard to believe August will be 16 years!!!  I've loved this marriage class on Sunday nights.  Although Jack and I have never had any "serious" issues in our marriage, the class has been teaching me so much and I think that in the last few weeks it has strengthened our bond even more.  I'm truly blessed!!
